bumcheekcend.ash - A zero setup semi-automated ascension script!

I'm using 0.19 as a DB and I'm getting this error. I remember reading that with the muscle class support this could break parts of moxie runs.

Here's what I get after firing the script up again where it broke:

Maximizing...
8 combinations checked, best score 52.0 (FAIL)

However, the maximizer is doing this...which will fail because of the polearm:
Code:
mainstat +outfit knob goblin elite -equip sugar shield -melee -ml -tie

I manually adventured in the Kitchens 3 times, got the items, and then beat the knob king (used entangling and 2 love songs, organ grinder loved that).

EDIT: It looks like this is in the bug tracker as "KGE route for knob king fails for moxie classes - ID: 3193516". I must say, it'll probably be easier to track problems with SourceForge, good idea!

Thankyou for the continued bug reports - please continue to submit them to the sourceforge page (in sig) if you haven't already.

In a week, I have my exam and then after that, I plan on attending to some of the bugs and feature requests.

Just curious but is there a reason for all the "-sugar shield" in the maximizer?
Doing a run as Seal Cluber atm and the maximizer command when going for the Pirate Fledges in the f'c'le is: mainstat +outfit swash -equip sugar shield +melee +shield -ml -tie

I would think the shield is a pretty nice piece of gear to have, rather than nothing at all.

It is so that it is only used on the spanglerack. I posted a comment on that change on SF indicating that only using it on that familiar is a bad idea for people who don't have it...

Comment out the line that has the "-equip sugar shield" on it and you should be good to go (put // in front of it).

Just letting you know, that I successfully completed a 11 day ascension using this script.
Thanks for making it.

I'm wondering where can I edit the familiar settings. Coming back from a huge hiatus, I don't have the baby sandworm or the rouge program. Instead I have the llama and the green pixie. Is there anyway I can change the settings to include those into my run? Also Whenever it comes across an item hunting zone, the familiar that the script chooses automatically jumps to the baby gravy fairy instead of the green pixie.

And one more thing, what are the "optimal" settings of HP/MP restoration?

Thanks so much! :D

The green pixie is not used as an item familiar because it is also an attack familiar and we don't want that in several places. You can edit your familiars by going to your datafolder and editing the relevant BCC-files to add in more/new familiars.

optimal HP/MP restoration values will change ove rthe course of the ascencion so that one is really hard to answer and will also rely on yoru level of risk taking.

In both cases, you would need to automate getting the spleen items from absinth/gongs on your own, BCAscend won't get them for you.

This is a great project you're working on, BCC. It's extremely helpful for those of ascending a multi or not active enough in the game at the moment to get ascensions in.

So thanks, I look forward to your updates, improvements, and continued work (mystic support in the future I hope :)).

Using version .19 I managed to complete a 7 day 1290 turn muscle ascension!

This was 3 days faster then the .18.1 version. I did use fax/sugar shirt manually early on, and caught it early in an infinite loop leveling bug before it wasted to many adventures on day 6 (which i submitted to your linked site)

Otherwise looking good.

I noticed a minor issue today. Using pumpkin bombs when the player doesn't have a Boulder (or, in my case, is doing a 100% run) is great. Hunting for telescope items as you go is great.

However, repeatedly going back to the knob to hunt for firecrackers (which are needed for the tower), then using them to blow up yellow ray targets, I'm not sure is so great. I spent most of yesterday's adventures in the knob, at level 8/9, hunting firecrackers. (Granted, I'm oxy, using a non-fairy)

That said, there are certainly some targets I would still want to bomb - the hippy suit comes to mind. I really don't think Racecar Bob is worth it though, certainly not as a moxie class.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but maybe don't use the last firecracker for a bomb if it's needed for the tower? And maybe only bomb (as opposed to yellow raying) very high priority targets?

It seems churlish to complain about such a minor thing - and it's not like I can expect the script to be optimal! - but it seems like it might be worth a look, if you have a moment.

-insert usual swoons of admiration and appreciation for BCC- :)

Ok, so forgive the total n00b question, but when I go to KoL--> data, I see several bcs_familiar_[whatever].txt files, which appear to be lists of familiars for different purposes (items, meat, etc.). What I don't see is the lists for default stat-gain familiars or spleen familiars. These are also, of course, "bcs" files, not "bcc" files. Am I just looking in the wrong place?

Thanks BCC !

I have just finished my first run with BCA. Only 5 skills and lots of things wrongly configured (by me) so it used the wrong familiars and burned lots of meat as various scripts tried to do different things at the same time.

19 days, 1992 turns compared to my previous best of 60 days, 3001 turns from 2009

What's a place that you don't want that? I was on like a 4 year haitus so I'm still getting used to all the new areas/implementations. D:

Oooh but ok THAT's where the list is, was looking for it inside the .ash for a while before I gave up.

Hmm I guess I asked it cause I haven't been playing in forever, I know it's not going to be optimal, but I just want like a super brief overview of some of the more efficient ways to restore. Cause I'm kinda clueless right now, just using ointments and soda/tonics. D:

Thanks so much for helping! :]

Easy enough... Rampaging Adding Machine, as well as the Gremlins in the junkyard... both need you to wait for a certain bit and not do damage when you don't want it to. May be some other areas as well, but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Regarding healing, the cheapest/easiest thing to do is use Bale's Universal Recovery script. :)

I consistently get 5 day accordion thief runs and now have had two sub-1000 turn runs with this script. I'm doing very little outside of it other than eating/drinking/fortune cookie/faxing. I know I file a lot of bugs, but thanks for all your hard work. :)

The prefix is correct. I misremembered what the prefix was :)

The stat gain and spleen familiars are unfortunately inside the script and you have to edit that in order to use otehr ones. If you just want to exchange one for another then doing a search/replace for it should work anything more advanced than that will have you editing the source. I have for example made it so that it uses a sombrero familiar (my sandworm) above level 7 since I feel that is better than the volleyball there.

Ahhh very true. Good examples. Thanks!

I am using it, but I just don't know what boxes to tick off, I'm feel like I'm spending way too much money on hp/mp recoveries. Almost every single level, I'm hovering around 1k-2k meat WITH selling off useless items, (sometimes I even go broke) which doesn't seem good at all. D:

If you're ending up too broke, that means that your healing values are bad, though whether too high or low, I couldn't say for sure. General rule, if you're getting beaten up, they're too low, if you end up broke all the time, they're too high. Or, you need to run knob treasury for 20-30 adventures and get yourself some meat. :)

I can't claim to know anything about HC mechanics, so forgive my ignorance, but I have two questions. First, what is the priority on getting spleen items? Often, the script will run with the rogue program whenever possible, and switch to my Dandy Lion when it needs items. Naturally we all love the DLion, but wouldn't it be better to use the GPixie for item drops and spleen? Or is the pixie considered obsolete nowadays :)? Or else is it using the DLion for Items and the MP?

My other question, is whether the script will use all resources at its disposal, or are you limiting its usage? Such as using the hebo when it needs an outfit or something, or if it could be beneficial, using a tome or libram to help with items or stats or whatnot.
