MacGuffin 2.0 -- level 11 quest, automated

Z,Bale,
What would keep the counterchecker from working correctly with macguffin.ash?
I am in HC so counter checker will abort current actions when a semi-rare counter comes up.
This works just fine with wossname, counter checker pops up and wossname aborts as expected but not with macguffin.
It's a mafia function to abort current actions when the semi-rare counter comes up. You're saying that when using macguffin, mafia won't abort at the semi-rare?

I agree with zarqon, please give us more information 'cause this is weird. Was counterchecker even called? If so, what did it do? Find evidence in your session log to post here.

macguffin,

I am using this on both my ascending multi and the multi testing Ascend.ash. Quite well behaved with the former. Spent 300+ turns opening the Hidden City with the latter, however and that seems excessive. Not sure whether that is RNG hate, a failure on Ascend's or my part to configure things or something else. Not clear whether Ascend is handling the protector spirits or that is something I have to do. Also saw an infinite loop that was setting and clearing a condition but not sure whether that was Ascend or MacGuffin. Reporting here in case it rings bell for someone else but this may be an operator or an Ascend problem. Certainly nothing to even think about until real life slows down for Z.

And thanks for the script.

It doesn't automatically handle the spirits. I've found that out the hard way before. I just have a ccs set to abort on them so i can reequip some prismatic damage equipment and fight them on my own.

That is documented and works fine for the manual player. Given the recommendations for SmartStasis and other scripts my concern, which DOES NOT belong in this thread, is whether Ascend, with it's goal of 100% automation is going to do the right thing or not.

thanks.

I have noticed that heals have started to hang lately, I might need to update Mafia, I am running 8487.

Restoring HP! Currently at 65 of 126 HP, 165 of 177 MP, current meat: 138871 ... Target HP = 114.

And then it just sits there.

Working fine for me.

First, the string you quoted is generated by Bale's Universal Recovery script and not by MacGuffin so if there is really a problem it should be reported elsewhere. Second, what you describe can be explained by server lag so more information will be needed before anyone can actually investigate. Finally there is definitely a knee jerk reaction to take problem reports more seriously if the reporter is using the latest daily build which is 8506 at the moment.

Bottom line though, would seem to me to be that you are just encountering lag and so the solution would be to Stop/Abort and redo whatever you were trying to do. If you believe otherwise additional information would be quite helpful.

Ahhh. Yep. Recovery script. Thanks.

Yes - it is 100% repeatable, so I don't think it is "vanilla" lag.

Will do more testing and post in appropriate location.

I looked at Bale's code enough to be about 70% certain that if it had restored as requested it would have emitted something else so, given that it is repeatable, it makes the most sense to see what Bale thinks. You have probably found an edge case and those are always interesting.

Is there some situation in which your healing lags? You're the only one that seems to have the problem so I suspect you're doing something unusual, or else your network is fritzy. One of the two.

I'd recommend turning up the verbosity level while troubleshooting. (Use the relay script to modify settings.)

Do you have the script set not to buy from mall or npcs? My suspicion is that the script is looking for a fullheal item, which you may not have. If the script isn't allowed to buy one from the mall, it may simply not want to heal you using various things at Doc Galaktiks due to cost efficiency. As Bale mentioned, turn up your verbosity level and that may be the case. You may have to handle your own healing in this situation under these circumstances.

I've also had the recovery script hang before -- specifically that script, everything else was running quickly. I didn't have time to track down and properly report the issue; I just restored via relay browser and continued on my way. But I think Raven is reporting a valid issue, I merely have no idea what conditions cause it to happen. Regardless, please take this discussion over to the proper thread. Further posts about recovery in the MacGuffin thread will meet with stern frowns of disapproval.

Hello! I've been using the script for several months (and 10+ ascensions) and up until now it has worked beautifully. Tonight, I started the script with 322 adventures remaining, and it worked fine up until I got the diary, at which point I had used about 60 adventures. Then, I used all remaining adventures in the Hidden Temple, only getting 2 of the choice adventures. Is it possible this was "natural" RNG mayhem?

Something similar happened to me and I also attributed it to RNG love. That said, I do believe there has been some discussion about whether the script always "uses" the diary which may have been a factor in my case. It will be a few days before I get to try it again.

I blend my usage of the zarqon's MacGuffin script with Rinn's Level 11 script. I've taken to starting on MacGuffin, and if anything is wrong, switching over to Level 11, if anything goes wrong, switching to MacGuffin, repeat until done. Only change was converting Rinn's script to use the HiddenCity that was extracted from MacGuffin by... Bale? Anyways, I've had intermittent issues with one or the other, but switching between them has always solved it so far. Suppose I should probably pay attention when I hit an error in MacGuffin and report it though...
