Getting a weird loop involving my clover.

I had the same thing happen when it wanted to clover guano junction for sonars but i didnt have stench protection... so basically i think it would create the clover, try to adventure there and fail and reset to the top, where it wanted to adventure in guano junction and needed a clover for it. I find most of the loops happen when it wants to do something and cant for other reasons. Another example i had yesterday was when it wanted to open the oasis and was looping because although i had the forged documents, i was down to 1 adventure and couldnt vacation to get the diary.
 
dumb question - have you got clover protection turned on?

bca makes clover, mafia dis-assembles it, rinse and repeat ...

It looks like Mafia disassembles the clover after adventuring fails (because of the lack of stench resist). The issue is getting stench resist, not the clover.
 
I had a similar problem today. I changed the combat script from "custom" to "attack with weapon" and it's working now.

A similar problem to what? The posts above you are about not having stench resistance and clovers not working, nothing to do with attacking in any way.
 
If we are adventuring to get something after getting teleportitis, please stop the script or use a SGEE to remove it. :)

The script dangerously wasted some adventures on me because it noticed I needed a guitar but didn't get one before opening the gates, so I still had teleportitis.

For some reason the script just blew through my first semi-rare. I had eaten a fortune cookie and the counter clearly recognizes it, but the script didnt abort like it usually does to let me get the semi-rare on my own. if what I've pasted below isn't enough, I'd be happy to check the logs if you tell me where you go for more information.

You're in a HC run and haven't set CounterChecker to automate HC, as per this:
Semi-rares choices are not automated in hardcore or ronin.
Turn on the auto SR in HC if you want it to auto SR in HC. :)
 
In automation, I'm fairly sure you're imagining it... It just returns false, it doesn't abort or anything special. Which, depending on what state BCA is in, might be enough to stop automation... just don't count on it. :)
 
I didn't expect it to auto, i expected it to abort so I could manually choose my SR, like I am pretty sure it does for me usually. Maybe I'm imagining that part, though.

This has been an issue with this script since the very beginning. The only real workaround is in the counterscript thread where they talk about limiting the sr's the script looks for in HC. After your script is only looking for things you know you want, you can go ahead and automate the getting of it.

One good thing, now that esc always aborts the script, if you know it's coming and you're watching the gCLI for the counter message, you can abort manually, get it, then restart the script.
 
Alternatively, you can change your personal copy of CounterChecker to have an abort() instead of the normal message about SR in HC not being automated.

Either way though, it's not a BCA issue/request, but a CC thing.

Hi everyone!

I've been using bumcheekascend for a long time now (at least a year i think). Generally I'm very pleased with it. It helps a lot when i haven't got time to run HC ascensions on my 3 characters. I'd guess I've used it to help me with over 30 HC runs in most classes and all the challenge paths. Mostly it's fine if I keep an eye on it and tinker a bit or do some parts myself. I love the script and it's helped me immensely, and sped up my runs and turncounts. I was even considering quitting KoL before i discovered bumcheekascend, so that in itself is a hearty endorsement!

Having said that though, the script could work better and I need to get some things off my chest... Unfortunately, I've had the same problems for quite a while now, but usually manage to catch things before the problem develops too badly. However, recently I am starting to get annoyed because I'm having a lot of turns wasted. This is sometimes just as simple as me being distracted and not noticing an issue until it's too late. I do wonder if it's because I'm using something wrong - some of the other scripts maybe? I know it's not all my fault though, as the script seems to make schoolboy errors quite often.

Here are the issues I notice very often (at least once a run):

Burning lots of turns (if left unattended) by trying to get pirate insults but not actually using the big book. All it does is keep killing them. A few days back I went AFK for a while, came back to find no adventures left and 103 bottles of rum in my inventory, and the pirate fledges quest still unfinished!! I normally fix this by selecting a combat macro, then restarting script. Couldn't the script have a few combat macros that it will use for certain quests? Or maybe some intelligent function that asks why a quest isn't finished yet? While on the subject of pirates, I notice the script will often not notice that it has the Frathouse Blueprints. It will carry on trying to get insults instead of progressing. It should stop and tell you to use the blueprints yourself.

I sometimes, depending on the character, find the script isn't healing and not even stopping to heal properly - uses tongue of walrus just the once to cure beaten up, and only heals about 40HP, then carries on and frequently gets killed/beaten up again. Rinse and repeat = result no progress in quest. The script should stop if this happens!! It stops just fine if it can't restore HP or MP, but happily continues on adventuring away in this circumstance, even though it's accomplishing nothing.
I tend to stop the script myself and just use the VIP Hot Tub, then restart script or just take over the quest anyway. Similar to pirate quest, if left unattended this can burn all remaining turns. I know this is [partly/totally?] my fault for not setting up the healing script & mafia settings properly, but why doesn't the script realize what it's doing?!

At level 13, once The War is won the script will often revert to a default and spend all turns in the HiTS farming, even though I already have the star key, hat and crossbow, and I know the council has been visited, and the NS Quest started. Manually doing the sorceress cavern & maze seems the easiest way to stop this behaviour, as it will then carry on normally. I know this is quite minor as the Lair is very easy to do manually, but the script is supposed to do it for you!

This one is quite minor too, but not in terms of a whole run. I notice there seems to be some skipping of choice adventures too, mainly in the cyrpt but also some other zones (bathroom/ballroom/bedroom). The game is designed around choices to get stats or meat, but the script just skips them. That doesn't make any sense at all!!

Even if just the Pirate Fledges Quest could be fixed it would make a big difference since that is a biggie and affects several quests. I know you'll probably want to see CLI quotes but I haven't got any at the moment. They can be supplied at a later date if you need them. If this is mainly me not setting mafia or scripts up right, please just tell me what I need to do!
