The last few times I have done the volcano island barracks I have noticed that a debug log had been produced. Today, I determined that this occurs when you select a choice that leads to a fight. I see the debug log says something about a button decorator. When you select a choice that leads to a fight, a button does appear on that page which is labeled "Fight".
