Does that imply that that the putty counter increments only upon successfully obtaining the putty monster, as opposed to its use with a provision for fail messages?

That method would just mean the failure message isn't parsed properly instead of the success message not being parsed properly.

3, actually. The useless parts form to make the trophy, which is usable and gives you trophy + candy. I just don't have the f'in funds to drop on 180 of them in the mall.

This. I hate trophies that can be acquired for ridiculous amounts of cash and no effort. I probably won't get this trophy for another year.

Right now lots of people are doing zombie runs where they can't use their tome every day. These things should fall in price a lot faster during crimbo, I think.

The trophy isn't well known, so unless it's spoiled with a new thread (ala #103 in G/D), I agree with that.
