I'm on daily build 11642. When I type "maximize pvp fights" with my hatrack out it puts on the outrageous sombrero instead of the depleted grimacite ninja mask. When I type it with my scarecrow out it equips travoltan trousers instead of cane-mail pants. Similar problem when typing "maximize adv."

Neither thing that you expect would actually give +pvp fights, so mafia is instead using a tiebreaker to pick appropriate equipment. The only way you can get +rollover pvp fights from your familiar is with a disembodied hand.
