I think this is fully supported now in r20657, at least as far as I can see/we know of the IotM.

I know I missed a few. It looks almost like each AAA battery counts as one and they add up.

Using a battery does not seem to remove it from inventory.
At least for a battery (lantern) - this is the only one I have verified so far.

Same goes for using them from the maximizer (at least for battery (car) anyway).

Using Shocking Lick against a boss where it only deals damage uses up a charge, but is not decrementing the shockingLickCharges preference.

There's a breakfast option to harvest all batteries, and no real disadvantage to using it. Using that means there should never be any there when you ascend.

I like invoking stuff from ASH rather than the breakfast - I've attached a patch that adds a relevant function.

I think in your use case it's fine to write custom ASH to harvest

breakfast is trying to harvest batteries in G-lover path which fails as potted power plant cannot be used in glover
edit: should be fixed r20705

Tried to fix this the smart way and it broke things so now its fixed the boring way in r20707
