Did a "modtrace familiar weight" while in the Anemone Mine, and saw that Familial Ties (the +10 lbs underwater effect gained from visiting The Eclectic Eels) is listed as Familiar Weight, not Hidden Familiar Weight.
Crocodile Tear (+10 lbs underwater) and Greased-up Familiar (+5 lbs underwater) are both correctly listing as Hidden Familiar Weight.
It does seem to be acting properly: when I change the adventure location to a non-Sea location (Giant's Castle), my Groupie is listed as the correct 39 pounds; when I select the Anemone Mine, Mafia shows her as 64 pounds. So, it seems to be cosmetic, but a bug nonetheless.
