I'm using the most recent commit of kolmafia.
When the blood cubic zirconia is installed in The Eternity Codpiece, it is still possible to use its skills. However, casting them as part of my breakfast routine, even while the codpiece is equipped, fails and aborts my script.
Ideally, even if i don't have the codpiece equipped, mafia would know that the gem is available there and know to equip it to cast, the same as it does if the BCZ is not installed in the codpiece.
This may well apply to other gems as well, in the future if not right now.
