That only clears the cache, not the preference. I think. It prevents preferences being carried over from one character to another.

Could we get a link to the crafting page when harvesting, same as with the beer garden?

Most (all?) of the equipment that can be made has This item will disappear at the end of the day. in its description. It isn't important for mafia to know that, but it could be useful to track just so it can be accessed by scripts and such.
