Also, I'd need to be able to change it and the mySQL at whim - I'd LIKE to add discoveries there at one stage - so I'd need constant server access, and I certainly wouldn't ask you to give that to a tall dark handsome stranger over the internet who enticed you with his bitching at the Wiki admins

Ditto. I'm very sorry that you let the wiki bullies annoy you into this. I think it would be better if you kept the option to produce wiki code, until such a time as the wiki bullies either delete the templates or else give up their illfound desire to squash the project.

Let them pull the plug; don't just surrender.

Thanks for the support, I really can't express that enough, but I honestly can't be arsed to deal with these winging children, and it WILL actually be easier for both me and the script user in a number of ways:

- I love PHP in the face and it's easier to fix a couple of little niggles that have been appearing.
- The user simply has to run the script. It'll print out a few lines, then the URL of my website, which will look like http://bumcheekcity.com/kol/profile.php?u=bumcheekcity - he won't have to copy+paste text anywhere or anything.
- I can add as much as I like and no-one can winge at me.
- Nobody will have to have a wiki account.
- URL is more memorable.
- I have COMPLETE control over the styling, so I can make it look really nice.
- I can give the user easy control over certain aspects of the styling.
- Nobody will be able to evade notifying me they've used it
- Loads more visits to my site.
- Backup feature.

It's more work, but it's how I ACTUALLY envisaged the script being in the first place. So give it a couple of days, and keep checking my profile in the above link to see how it looks.

I've been following this thread. What I'd personally hoped I could do with this script is get output I could plug into Quanta+ and save it as an html file and just open it to view without dealing with the wiki or your server or anyone else's. I just thought it would be a convenient way to get everything gathered together for me. But with an older version of the script, I tried to use it and the resulting data only produced gibberish in Quanta I do have a wiki account but prefer not to have a User page so I didn't bother going that route. I suppose I could still use the various checker utilities that I've seen here and there, but I suspect your utility is the most recent and all-inclusive.

I rewrote your username in the mySQL tables and that showed up - I IMAGINE that's your profile. This problem is due to a missing equals sign. Either redownload version 0.9 or change line 270 from:

visit_url("http://bumcheekcity.com/kol/profilesave.php?username"+my_name()+ret);

to:

visit_url("http://bumcheekcity.com/kol/profilesave.php?username="+my_name()+ret);

No, every time you run the script it just re-updates your entries in the database. In short, you can run it whenever you like to update your profile.

Edit: I am aware of the hilarious recurring problem where it doesn't detect bookshelf skills.

I'll fix all the bugs, then post version 1.0 in a day or two. If it works (albeit slowly), there's no need to post an urgent half-fix. Plus, mafia shouldn't continually check the store, so I'll bugreport it.

This makes me sad.

I defended you because it seems like they were being hypocritical: it's OK for such-and-such an admin to have 180 ascensions worth of ascension history posted (with a comment to the effect that if you didn't like it, tough, since it was intended for his own benefit, not for your viewing pleasure), but people using your templates were clogging up the Wiki with non-Wiki-related stuff which nobody would be interested in seeing, anyway and therefore the templates should be "nuked from orbit" and/or people using them should be "warned" and then "banned."

I hoped to get it all resolved amicably - not to intentionally antagonize people by "trolling". If that's what you did, I am now sorry that I defended you.
