do you think these used books should be auto used after the king is freed? Or should something like that be left up to a user script?

There is no kingLiberatedScript hook, so it might be nice if they were autoused. (Assuming that the skill is not permanent of course.) The one down side is that they would have to be pulled out of Hangks to use them and there are people who are picky about their inventory being removed from Hangks.

Though it might be more awesome if a kingLiberatedScript was added as a feature. Then people can do what they want, including adding a script for this.

This is a good idea. Please make a Feature Request.

If I understand these used books correctly, they are reusable items which will give you the same skill as the unused book gives you. Presumably, if you already have the skill (either permed or from a previous use within this ascension of the unused or the used book), it gives a failure message, but the book stays in inventory.

I think if we mark them as "reusable", assuming we can successfully detect the "You gain a skill" message, that's all the support we will need; I don't see any reason to print an error and abort automation if you "fail" to use them because you already have the skill. After all, the point of reading them is to gain access to the skill, and once you read them, success or failure, you will have access to the skill.

r9916 adds support for almost all the (used) versions of books. Mafia now knows those give you skills, too.

All that's missing is data on The Autobiography of Dynamite Superman Jones (used).

Added in r9921. r9916 wasn't complete: Mafia should now know that (used) books give skills (untested though).
