Hmmm, is it possibly ignoring DA? Or maybe there's a DA penalty for diving too? Just throwing things out there now.
I had the same thought and messed around with the numbers, but I couldn't make a DA penalty work. The problem was the spread isn't affected by DA, yet the spread was about double expected.

I saved up a bunch of turns of fishy for the new content today, which didn't happen, so I think I'll try spading this out some. Different depths, makes diving easier buffs, that kind of thing.

relay_WHAM_dontuse has been updated to version 0.3 which harmonises the banning list with the format in the upcoming BatBrain release. AFter running the script (and pressing save) you can delete the old file (it'll get emptied out anyway).

This is the type of problem I'm having a hard time pinning down. I've updated BatBrain to predict the right damage coming from the Octopus Gardener. I've turned on KoLmafia's logging of actual damage done and taken, both match BatBrain's predictions well enough, yet WHAM still lost.

Hmm... Odd. Could you do one with verbosity 10 so that it prints out all items and skills and their expected damages? Because Candyblast at 35 damage times 6 or 7 is definitely less than ~300 which the monster had left after the Leviatuga, which is a skill without much variance so it couldn't have been overestimating that.

In the second case I wonder what would've happened had you not been poisoned, however it is still interesting that you have valid attack_options until after it enqueues the Stringozzie Serpent and then suddenly the best option is no longer good enough (which for some reason was Zombo's eye...) and it starts to try and delevel (which is not working properly I should probably add, any ideas are very welcome) but after 16 turns of using kites to delevel it finds attack is OK again, even though die_rounds is clearly 7 still and you are thus dead by now, and moves on from there.

A limit on the delevel option that it should probably only be considered if die_rounds goes up by more than 1 and kill_rounds actually lowers is maybe a good idea.

I probably should have mentioned this, because it might be a clue to what's going on, but in these cases verbosity 10 goes into an infinite loop.

I've tried moving that number up and down and I'm not sure it makes much difference to when I win or not. For some reason, even with it set back to 10, I'm not losing as many fights today. I did lose one with it set at 25. So confusing.

Yep, that's a bug where setting verbosity to 10 and running into WHAM_round_limit will lead to an infinite loop. That's annoying, but probably not the real cause of the error.

Yeah. One could dream. The sea is a place with lots of crazy mechanics. Just about every zone has something odd, even if it's just one monster. I really thought I'd spend some time last weekend on it or I wouldn't have started posting about it. Thanks for you help.

Version 4.8.2 has been uploaded with the following changes: Fix detection of don't-use-maps if the new format is being used, Fix jarlsberg jiggling of limited staffs, also add banishing for Jarlsberg, Don't loop eternally when verbosity > 9 and a valid combat strategy is unable to be found

A new version, fully compatible with the upcoming BatBrain will come out as soon as BatBrain gets updated.
 
I am using WHAM in an AoJ ascention and i've jacked up ML for the oil peak. for some reason WHAM is stasising which is costing me lots of HP, which i'd rather not lose. i can one shot these guys with slice or grill, but WHAM isnt using it. any idea if this is appropriate behavior? i can't think of why we'd stasis in here, but i'm not exactly optimal either.

That doesn't look like stasis, that looks like killing the monster for 0 MP. That is almost certainly not the desired result in this case though.

The smartest thing is to consider the cost of restoring HP vs the cost of restoring MP and choose the cheapest option. WHAM does this when deciding which attack is cheapest. Your verbosity isn't set high enough to see how that decision was made. Hopefully, you are using Bale's UR script, because that tells WHAM how much things cost. BatBrain prints those costs at verbosity 7. You might want to go to 9 or 10 for posting bugs.

i already manually adventured past this section and in other sections (to the best of my recollection) it was choosing SLICE to one-shot. i dont know if it was the ML or the area or what. I do use UR for healing so I guess in the absence of anything else maybe the logic for AoJ could be altered to make some mp assumptions.

It does, and Batbrain/WHAM take it into account when computing the cost.

I think there is a source of MP regen that Mafia isn't reporting for Avatars of Jarlsberg. I'll try to find if anyone posted a number on it.

3 can lids and 2 firecrackers, it was an automated hardcore run.

On another note, I'm getting another error today, I completed the combat by noodling and thrusting lunge smack and one hit KO'd him, closed mafia restarted and the same error came back.
