I explored The Beach for a quite a long time, and never got enough sand for even one Hourglass. At least, according to Mafia. At last, I decided to check my reserves, and found that actually I had enough sand for _two_ Hourglasses. But never offered to create them. Because Mafia is unaware of half of items in "Sandy Creations" tab, it seems. I had three recipes from 6 only, while was able to make other 3 (I checked wiki for that). There are no both recipes for small piles of sand definitely and... sorry, I forgot what third is it. Probably, piles to large pile? (I still have leftovers of small piles, so I am sure about other 2):
