Feature - Implemented New Quest Tracking for Mt McLarge Huge

Bale

Minion
Obviously the quest tracker needs a lot of updating. Fortunately I have accumulated all the necessary information in a single place. In this post is every event that triggers quest log advancement including the exact html wherever relevant and the new quest log entry. The only thing I didn't nail exactly is the html for snowboarding to the Peak.

Edit: Darnit. I forgot to check what happens when I start the quest chain by talking to the council. Maybe someone else can find out so that I can add it to the listing below?

  1. Talk to Council: (questL08Trapper => started)
    > council

    Council of Loathing

We've got reports of a bunch of bugbears wandering around the Cyrpt, Adventurer!

The Spookiness still emanates from the Cyrpt, Adventurer. See if you can find and destroy the source, and bring us back proof of your conquest.

Adventurer! We've received an urgent letter from the Trapper, requesting our assistance. We're, like, really busy right now, so we were hoping you could go out to his place and see what he wants.

He lives at the base of Mt. McLargeHuge, the tallest of the Big Mountains. We'll mark it on your map for you.
    New Area Unlocked

Mt. McLargeHuge, in The Big Mountains.

    parent.charpane.location.href="charpane.php";

    Quest Log:
    Am I My Trapper's Keeper?
The Council wants you to go talk to the Trapper on Mt. McLargeHuge. Mt. McLargeHuge is, unsurprisingly, in the Big Mountains.

Snowboarding to the peak has you work on raising your "Extreme" stat. Basically, there's 3 choiceadvs you need to have hit, then you're done... Unfortunately didn't save the pages or adventure number, but... might be in the session log? I'll look tomorrow if nobody's posted while I'm sleeping. :)

That is true, but irrelevant for this thread. Extreme is not tracked in the quest log as far as I know. All that is needed is the text for the page where you click on the top of the peak and get a page of text about how your snowboard tricks allowed you to find the stairs.

Add to that that alternate route you can go with the Ninja Snowmen.

True... where it becomes relevant is that once you have an actual method of reaching the peak, your quest-step should change. If that's your second "step2" text... awesome. :)

This thread sort of reminds me of the the series of posts I made when roippi asked what the various stages were in the quest log.

Having the various messages from the Trapper himself is probably useful, though.

Yes, I thought of that also. On the other hand, I thought the trapper messages would Roippi with the quest updating without checking the quest log, just as the others are. Since I was adding more information it seemed like a nice idea to reiterate the rest as well so it would all be in one place.

And are you complaining about my posting this thread? Do you believe that I should have stuck everything in the huge omnibus thread along with a bazillion other details? I'm not real clear on the purpose of your post.

Isn't there anything before the started step? i.e. what is in your quest log after you initially talk to the council?

Bale

Minion
Oh shit. I forgot about that! Veracity forgot about it too! :D

I guess my started step is really step1. Correcting the first post accordingly.

So, is this what you need?

Am I My Trapper's Keeper?
The Council wants you to go talk to the Trapper on Mt. McLargeHuge. Mt. McLargeHuge is, unsurprisingly, in the Big Mountains.
Did the gCLI command instead of relay, so I don't have the HTML source for it...

That is much better than nothing. Thank you!

Can you also save us the page where you find the stairs with extreme snowboarding?

Will do tomorrow. I distracted myself unlocking the gallery and doing other bits instead of finishing off the quest. My script will beat it, but WHAM doesn't auto-fight the unknown monsters too happily yet, so I like finishing it up when it's easier... heh.

Anyways, yeah, I'll try to grab the full info for stairs. What you want is the third choiceadventure from the eXtreme slope, right?

Bale

Minion
No. That does NOT advance the quest log.

I want the choice adventure from The Mist-Shrouded Peak where the stairs are found. There are two different versions of that message, one is unlocked by climbing (that's in the first post) and the other is unlocked by snowboarding.

With your eXtreme eXtremity, you effortlessly fly high above the Mist-Shrouded Peak. Through a gap in the mists, you spy a crude stone staircase carved into the side of the mountain. So that's how you get up there.
Then you land and hit your head on a rock, knocking all of this eXtremity nonsense out of you.

Roippi, Theraze provided the alternate text for advancing the quest from step2 to step3. Could you do that, please?

Bale

I guess we'll wait on marking this implemented until someone tests it. I'm not ascending again until the new challenge path comes out next week.
