Need help installing

Hello. I currently have mafia version 26079, but i'm not even sure how i got that version working. Does anyone know what steps i'm supposed to take to download and install mafia the intended way thru github? I've downloaded it but i cant find an executable file or install .exe or anything.

Hi! If you go to https://github.com/kolmafia/kolmafia/releases, you should find a .exe that should execute regardless of your version of Java. Note that it's bigger than the jar because it actually bundles a Java runtime with it.

(KoLmafia-r26203-22.01.26203.exe is the latest such exe as of my writing this.)

If you want to continue running the jar, you'll want to make sure you have a recent version of Java (we require at least Java 11 as of last September, but we recommend using Java 17 as the most recent LTS (long-term support) release.

I'm having trouble installing the .exe.

Steps taken:

1. download KoLmafia-r26203-22.01.26203.exe and run it. Installs ok.
2. Run Kolmafia from my desktop - get error "Failed to launch JVM".

I have JDK 17 open source, my environment variables path and JAVA_HOME are set.

Any troubleshooting ideas?

Fixed - I have to run Kolmafia as an administrator! (Sometimes I hate Windows...)
