Mafia stops auto-removing effects and/or autohealing

After I run Mafia for a few weeks, Mafia mysteriously stops auto-removing effects. This is especially bad because it prevents me from swapping effects in the buff management pane, and causes Mafia to stop every time I have an undesirable status effect that I can't remove.

I've been able to solve this problem in the past by overwriting my settings files, but that erases my painstaking items/moods/script settings. I'm looking for a quick way to fix this problem.

My computer is running windows XP SP2.

I'm guessing you're still using 12.5, which has a bug that screws up one of the settings files. The solution that Veracity has been giving out is to delete that file, which works until it gets screwed up again (as she has said). The better solution is to get a daily build from here.
