Yes we have a shiny new theme, I was starting to get tired of the old default one so I pulled this one up. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Also I added a bug report forum so we could try to locate everything in one place. Any suggestions there will also be appreciated.

Oh.

Wow.

It'll take a bit to get used to this, but at least it isn't ugly. Someone should tell the penguin that habit will kill him.

This is pretty cool! It seems a bit easier to read and I love the penguin.

This theme seems to have some issues with FF3.

This (http://img264.imageshack.us/my.php?image=newthemeko2.gif) is what the code tag looks like. Which is kind of horrible as it has destroyed the changelog on the Unofficial Builds topics.

edit:
Also broken in IE.

It actually works worse on my display. Where yours looks blacked out, mine looks like a visual representation of morse code...all dots and dashes.

I wonder if there is a way to tweak the settings of just that one part of the theme. I really enjoy the other elements of it.

I actually like it as well dangerpin. Only workaround I have right now is to switch themes back to the old one.

I did a double blink when the page opened up, but I like it :) It's not the shiny part I like, its the bold, wake up without making my eyes bleed that I like ;) Makes caffeine more effective ;)

Yeah, the quote thing is unfortunate, but I really love that penguin. My quick reply box went away so I was tempted to lambaste the change, but I found the setting that reactivated it so now I am fully supportive. It's shiny! :)

The quote and code boxes are fixed.

You might need to hard refresh (ctrl f5) to get the new CSS file.

It's 'pretty' and all, but there's a LOT more wasted real estate on my screen, now. I'm kind of a fogie, I prefer black text on white background if it means most of the screen is actually being USED for what I want to read.

Wasted space? It's the same exact layout except with different colours and images. If you don't like it feel free to go change it in your profile back to default though :D

There's a large gap on the sides of the forum in the new theme compared to the old default, you probably wouldn't see it at lower resolutions or if the browser window wasn't maximized.

Where can the "Show new replies to threads I've posted in" functionality be found?

Why does this thing keep losing my password? As in I try to log in with a working passord and it refuses to acknowldge it? That is twice I've had to reset it today.

fewyn

Did you change it to a new one afterwards?

Kakadesu
02-01-2009, 08:08 AM
That's now 3 times today. And yes I have Fewyn. This has been happening since the board was changed to this.

I have tried just leaving the password at the issued reset one. And have changed to password to something else as well. No, it's not a typo problem. I have been sure to check that.

I did just log out and back in again with my newly reset and changed to my normal password for here password. It has worked for now. But considering the current track record, I expect to have issues in a few hours.

I'd like to see avatar functionality reinstated. It's easier to recognize people that way. Currently the only option is "Do not use an avatar."

Thanks for the recent renovations fewyn! I think the bug tracker idea is awesome.

Avatars didn't migrate, but the feature is available. Click on the "Use a custom avatar" button and upload one.

I don't have that button. My only option is "Do not use avatar."

Also, any chance we could urldecode everything? Messages everywhere are full of & and "

Also, [tt] and [li] tags didn't convert over. I don't expect everything to be the same on a new system, but it might be nice if there was some way of helping convert those over.

Yay. I just had to RESET my password AGAIN. Why? It did not accept my password as per usual at the login interface. It just dumps me back to the board index asking to be logged in again.

I shall reset my password to the usual setting. Can someone please find out what is going on and why it keeps losing my password?

There are times where important features are unusable in the release build for quite a while after game changes. If the policy is that people have to register here if they want a working version, then I guess that works. It will probably result in lots of accounts here with 0 or 1 posts, but that probably doesn't hurt anything.

Switched to reCaptcha for the captcha as people where complaining about not being able to read it.

These days anyone who can't read captcha, can't handle 80% of sites that require registration. I feel bad for their disability.

Yea, if only spammers didn't exist.

Bale
02-02-2009, 10:38 PM
I've been thinking about the "need to register to download" issue. While I have no sympathy for people who cannot learn how to read Captcha, I don't think that registration should be necessary.

It doesn't harm this forum or its users at all if people download without registration. All you are doing is to add another hassle to make it possible. Yeah, it isn't hard to register. Yeah, it doesn't take long. Yeah, it doesn't hurt them. However, I know that whenever I have to register at a site for some simple service it is a hassle that annoys me.

Since it isn't bad for us, why require that people become annoyed?

Kakadesu
02-04-2009, 06:27 AM
The issue of having capcha shouldn't be a problem. Bale is right, if people want access to this then they shouldn't whine about having to log in to get it. It's not like they are paying for it. It's a good excuse to bring them into the community and hell... They might get more involved. I'd have signed up for access if I didn't already have an account (which I signed up for to report a bug).... However my issue with the having to sign in to get it thing is that for some inexplicable reason (and apparently I am the ONLY one experiencing this) my account is broken to I am having to (still) reset my password most days (sometimes multiple times). Which means I am having to deal with the capcha daily.

Now I am glad you swapped to this version of capcha, the old one made my eyes hurt. But it's still a pain in the butt to deal with on the level I am having to. But I do think that it is good for registration. They also generally provide an audio snippet with capcha to help people who have trouble reading it anyway.

@fewyn: So I'm going to have to go through a lot of posts and change tags, etc. I was wondering if you are going to set up [tt] tags in our bbcode. If so, I'll just leave them (I used them a LOT). Otherwise, ugh.

Teletype text -- basically, it used a monospace font. Useful for quoting bits of code without making a separate block. i.e. the acquire command.

Sounds good. A small complaint with the [ tt ] handling -- I think you made it equivalent to [ pre ], right? But that means any bbcode tags inside tt tags are not processed; not quite the right behavior. Things mostly look fine so this is a small complaint -- don't put it at the top of your list. :)

Apologies if this isn't the place to do this, but it was the best match I came up with...

Is there any way to change the way a thread title displays in the list of threads, not just in the replies & original post? (/me did a very poor job naming the thread for my customdaily.ash script, and /me wishes to update it very badly.)

It appears that the usual way of doing this (by choosing "Edit Thread [something?]" from the "Thread Tools" menu while editing your Original post) on vBulletin is disabled on this forum.

Maybe I'm being a little bit opportunistic, but you could try installing the Opera Browser (http://www.opera.com/) and seeing if you still have a problem downloading with that browser. :D

If it succeeds, then the problem is with your Firefox settings.
