New calendar is taking on a slightly different twist this year.

We're apparently unlocking adventure zones.

The very first is "The Lollipop Forest" (snarfblat #274)

Only item I've seen dropped so far is:

Since the tourmalime tourniquet makes all the fights scale, are we going to have any official support for detecting that and using it to change the monster stats, or should I just hack my personal copy? :)

If you write a patch to detect tourmaline and change monster stats accordingly, post it!

The Garage in the Homestead no longer is empty and costs no adventures. Now there's a system for turning popsicle sticks into stuff ala the Blackberry Cobbler.

Bizarre.

Well, if I was just doing it for myself, I'd just replace the lowball stats on the lollipop forest monsters with scaling stats. :) It's not something that should necessarily get submitted, since it makes things wrong if you aren't scaling. If someone is planning on doing proper detection, I'll wait and not break it. If nobody is planning on working on it though, and I have enough time, I might try to figure out some way of hacking together item/stat overrides and submitting it. Undoubtably, it'll be nasty code, similar to the Feast of Boris cranberry food/drink override that's still not cleaned up and approved. :) But it'll work.

Probably make it look for if you have the item equipped and you're in the zone, and if so, override the attack/defence with scaling stats. Probably make it also apply to the lanyard... not that it's likely to show up again, but if someone faxes it in...

For that matter, if you fax in a monster, the zone is blank, right? So I can't just detect on the zone, I need to detect the specific monsters... hmm... okay.

I'd just like to add that when the new choice adventure in the Gingerbread Homestead is implemented, it might be extremely nice if mafia includes an option to "Get 1 of each and then licorice root".

Here's a basic patch that just makes the Lollipop monsters use the same scaling that the Crimbco monsters used last year.

The items are added in r10075.

As much as I love adding stuff to data files, I'm considering asking that we give GValko dev rights so he can update them :D

I'm going to fool around with the choice adventure to see how it should be implemented.

i would suggest the tool time choice adventure should have a option to get one of each item, then licorice root. but also the option of picking which item i want to keep making, like the sucker scaffold.

r10079 adds generic support for the Tool Time choice adventure. By "generic support", I mean that spoilers are shown in the relay browser, the correct number of lollipop sticks is removed from inventory, and the Choice Advs panel only shows the options available in the adventure, but there is no logic for more complex decisions.

The only treatment Mafia does is it to skip the adventure instead of trying to make an item if you don't have enough lollipop sticks for that item.

It looks like getting one of each equipment piece is something players will do only once. The extra code required to have a "one of each" option is not worth the time, in my opinion.
