At least one of the links to at quest completion does not point to "Amun": after defeating The Big Wisniewski the link next to the solid gold bowling ball points to "council".

You are correct, I changed only those for levelling up, which was the request. I should have looked at those too.

Problem with recognizing the start of the MacGuffin Quest. It's a simple and obvious problem though. In questscouncil.txt it says:

Code:
questL11MacGuffin	started	next task the Council sent him on was to steal the Holy MacGuffin!	"Have you finished dealing with the guardians of your Staff, boss?"

The problem is that this ascension I'm not a "him". (I alternate.) As a "her" this does not work. There's a lot of other text to match on. Please choose something non-pronoun specific like, "Who actually <i>are</i> these guardians, Amun?"

HTML:
<p>"Good news, boss!" Amun says, and though you can't see his face, you can hear the excitement in his voice.
<p>
"You found Bale?"
<p>
"Not quite, but we're catching up with her. It seems that the next task the Council sent her on was to steal the Holy MacGuffin!"
<p>
"Aha! That is good news! Do you know what happened to it?"
<p>
"The file regarding that mission is heavily redacted, I'm afraid," Amun says, shaking his head sadly. "You'll have to retrace the adventurer's steps as before. However, this will give you an opportunity to review your security procedures."
<p>
"My what now?"
<p>
Amun points at the Staff of Ed you're carrying. "Your staff, boss. The adventurer was able to gain access to your pyramid, because he was able to recover the pieces of the Staff of Ed from its guardians."
<p>
"Ahh, right," you say, eyes narrowing. "Guardians who could use a firm talking-to about their job performance."
<p>
"Exactly, boss. And you might as well re-hide the pieces of the Staff while you're at it." You hand Amun the staff, and with some deft movements he separates it into its three component pieces, which he hands back to you.
<p>
"Who actually <i>are</i> these guardians, Amun?" you ask. "I'm a little out of touch."
<p>
"I'm ashamed to admit it, boss, but I'm not sure myself. The pieces of the Staff had a geas placed upon them, such that any who held one was compelled to conceal and protect it, but the pieces were then handed down through family lines, lost, stolen, recovered and hidden so many times by so many different parties over the years, their actual route became impossible to discern."
<p>
"And yet the adventurer found them."
<p>
"Indeed. So, if you can retrace the adventurer's movements, you should be able to locate these guardians in much the same way."
<p>
"So where do I start?"
<p>
"Bale was able to locate the pieces of the Staff using her father's diary as a guide. It appears that the man was a noted archaeologist, who had been on the trail of the MacGuffin for many years. Someone in the Distant Lands found the diary, and Bale travelled there to retrieve it."
<p>
"And where is this diary now?" you ask.
<p>
"Unknown," Amun shrugs. "Probably Bale still has it. But, my agents in the Distant Lands were able to locate the man who gave it to her, and luckily, the rogue had made a copy of it for his own gain. My agents were able to… acquire this copy. Unfortunately, you'll need to travel there to pick it up. And even if you had any travel documents, boss, they'd be a bit out of date."
<p>
"Wonderful. So, again, where do I start?"
<p>
"I am told that there is a specialist in forged travel documents in the area. More specifically, he operates out of a Black Market, which can be found somewhere near the Black Forest." Amun marks the location of the forest on your map.
<p>
"So, find the Black Market, get travel documents, travel to the Distant Lands and get the diary copy, and then I can go track down the so-called 'guardians' of the pieces of my staff, give them a piece of my mind, and re-hide the staff."
<p>
"That is correct, boss. And while you're doing that, I shall work on tracing the adventurer's movements after she recovered the Holy MacGuffin."
<p>
"You'll certainly have enough time, it sounds like."<center><table class="item" style="float: none" rel="id=7962&s=0&q=1&d=0&g=0&t=0&n=1&m=0&p=0&u=."><tr><td><img src="/images/itemimages/biggem.gif" alt="Eye of Ed" title="Eye of Ed" class=hand onClick='descitem(456612257)'></td><td valign=center class=effect>You acquire an item: <b>Eye of Ed</b></td></tr></table></center><center><table class="item" style="float: none" rel="id=7963&s=0&q=1&d=0&g=0&t=0&n=1&m=0&p=0&u=."><tr><td><img src="/images/itemimages/aamulet.gif" alt="ancient amulet" title="ancient amulet" class=hand onClick='descitem(441617955)'></td><td valign=center class=effect>You acquire an item: <b>ancient amulet</b></td></tr></table></center><center><table class="item" style="float: none" rel="id=7964&s=0&q=1&d=0&g=0&t=0&n=1&m=0&p=0&u=q"><tr><td><img src="/images/itemimages/poolcue.gif" alt="Staff of Fats" title="Staff of Fats" class=hand onClick='descitem(620113505)'></td><td valign=center class=effect>You acquire an item: <b>Staff of Fats</b> <font size=1>[<a href="javascript:singleUse('inv_equip.php','which=2&action=equip&whichitem=7964&pwd=c72cfb9e668954a56c0abcaa6474cffe&ajax=1');void(0);"><span style='position: relative;' onMouseOver="document.getElementById('whatif29').style.visibility='visible';" onMouseOut="document.getElementById('whatif29').style.visibility='hidden';"><table border=2 id='whatif29' style='background-color: white; visibility: hidden; position: absolute; right: 0px; top: 1.2em;'><tr><td>Damage Reduction</td><td>5.00 (-8.00)</td></tr><tr><td>Spooky Resistance</td><td>4.00 (-5.00)</td></tr><tr><td>Mysticality</td><td>10.00 (-10.00)</td></tr><tr><td>Mysticality Percent</td><td>60.00 (-25.00)</td></tr><tr><td>Spell Damage Percent</td><td>70.00 (-25.00)</td></tr><tr><td>MP Regen Min</td><td>0.00 (-2.00)</td></tr><tr><td>MP Regen Max</td><td>0.00 (-6.00)</td></tr><tr><td>Spell Critical Percent</td><td>10.00 (-10.00)</td></tr><tr><td>Buffed Mysticality</td><td>177.00 (-36.00)</td></tr><tr><td>Buffed MP Maximum</td><td>316.00 (-54.00)</td></tr></table>equip</span></a>]</font></td></tr></table></center><p>

Whoa. I learned something new about Bale today. I never knew this about him/her. I will have to watch my he/she pronouns.

[14:53] RUPATUPA: Does Mafia track how many talismen of Renenutet you've purchased today?
[14:53] Lxndr: not in my experience
[14:54] bmaher: no
[14:54] RUPATUPA: Too bad. That would be a useful thing to track.
[14:55] Lxndr: yes. someone should make a feature request, maybe.

Upon finishing up as Ed, KoLmafia does not sufficiently check my campground to find out that I am capable of cooking. After manually clicking on my kitchen in the relay browser KoLmafia will cook for me.
Interesting thing is, you can cook (or mix) in-run, even though you don't (seemingly) have a campground with kitchen.

I'm in a Normal Ed run. Just for turngen, I pulled a cherry bomb for a nightcap. That gave me a TPS.
Next day, I pulled two cherries (I had a bottle of whiskey) - but cherry bomb did not show up as makable in the Item Manager.
It is FANCY - so requires a Queue du Coq - which I actually have in my (invisible) kitchen.
Going to Crafting in the Relay Browser and selecting mix, by golly, there are my various cocktailcrafting ingredients - and I made a cherry bomb.

Code:
pull: 1 bartender-in-the-box

use 1 bartender-in-the-box

buy 1 Queue Du Coq cocktailcrafting kit for 1000 each from The General Store
You spent 1,000 Meat
You acquire an item: Queue Du Coq cocktailcrafting kit

use 1 Queue Du Coq cocktailcrafting kit

Mix 1 cherry + 1 tiny plastic sword
You acquire an item: skewered cherry
Crafting used 1 each of tiny plastic sword and cherry

Mix 1 bottle of whiskey + 1 cherry
You acquire an item: old-fashioned
Crafting used 1 each of bottle of whiskey and cherry

Mix 1 skewered cherry + 1 old-fashioned
You acquire an item: cherry bomb
Crafting used 1 each of skewered cherry and old-fashioned
(what the heck - I will be in aftercore for quite a while after this run, so may as well have the bartender...)

Note that it decided to buy the Queue du Coq. I don't recall how or why.

I also made unstable fulminate - a FANCY cooking recipe.

Code:
buy 1 Dramatic™ range for 1000 each from The General Store
You spent 1,000 Meat
You acquire an item: Dramatic™ range

use 1 Dramatic™ range

[450] Cook 1 bottle of Chateau de Vinegar + 1 blasting soda
You acquire an item: unstable fulminate
Crafting used 1 each of bottle of Chateau de Vinegar and blasting soda
Note that it decided to buy the Dramatic range. I don't know how or why.

The above, in-run, as Ed.

There's a bug report or suggestion somewhere about remembering what kitchen accessories you have installed so that we don't decide to buy them again when your kitchen is not visible in Ed. Perhaps it is in this thread.

Are you saying that mafia decided to buy coq/range when you crafted from relay browser?

I may have made the fulminate from the CLI; it failed a few times before I unchecked "require in-the-boxes" setting. If so, then yes, we will buy a range for FANCY recipes.

I wanted to make the cherry bomb from the Item Manager - I wanted to see it in my drink options when I had all the ingredients. But, no joy. I did not try making it via the CLI; I went straight to Crafting in the Relay Browser. I saw the fancy ingredients in the dropdowns, and I saw a note saying something like (Using bartender-in-the-box). I selected the ingredients, said Mix, and it mixed for me. I did not tell it to buy a Queue Du Coq - but somebody - KoLmafia, I assume - bought and used one, anyway.

So, yes - it sure looks like it did that even though I did the mixing via the Relay Browser.

Perhaps this series of notes should go into a new Bug/Feature where we can discuss KoLmafia remembering your permanent Kitchen tools, whether or not you can get to your Kitchen.

Hmm. Am I correct in remembering that once you purchased a Dramatic Range or a Queue Du Coq cocktailcrafting kit that they persist across ascensions? The following is from a OCRS run late in July:

Code:
[535] Cook 1 bottle of Chateau de Vinegar + 1 blasting soda
You acquire an item: unstable fulminate
Crafting used 1 each of bottle of Chateau de Vinegar and blasting soda

equip off-hand unstable fulminate
It didn't actually take a turn, since I have Rapid Prototyping, but it did not purchase a Dramatic Range.

The Wiki says:

After ascension, your Kitchen will always start with an E-Z Cook™ oven and a My First Shaker™ cocktailcrafting kit. The upgrades must be purchased.
Of course, this would be far from the first time that the Wiki was flat-out wrong.

I looked through the code. We will buy and install a range or cocktail kit if you don't have one and are doing a FANCY concoction. This is part of CreateItemRequest.autoRepairBoxServant() - which is called ONLY for a CreateItemRequest or a CraftItemRequest. Thus, the Item Manager, the CLI, and ASH - but NOT the Relay Browser.

I assume that my memory was wrong: I must have looked at the dropdowns in the Relay Browser, saw the ingredients, decided that I really could do this, even though the Item Manager did not show me the recipe, and done the deed in the CLI - presumably because it was going to be multi-stage crafting and I didn't remember the intermediate steps.

If you try to craft unstable fulminate from the relay browser then KoL tells you that
Code:
You need a more advanced cooking appliance to cook something something with fancy ingredients.
After purchasing a Dramatic Range and using it you get a message informing you that it has been installed in your campsite. You can then craft the unstable fulminate via the relay browser.
OK. I guess you still do need to purchase an advanced appliance - but we won't remember it beyond the current session, since we can't see the Campground.

Do you really have to purchase a Range and Queue Du Coq every ascension? If so, then making per-ascension variables for them - rather than depending on looking at the kitchen every session - should do it.

Yes, you do. I distinctly recall having meat woes in early HC runs because cooking the knob cake requires a fancy oven. Also, I can only imagine that was the reason I bought a dramatic range to make Special Sauce on July 28.

If memory serves, it was a change when the kitchen changed to give you the basic cooking stuff automatically. At that point, you needed to rebuy every time.
