Ha! Of course, it's the little things that defy easy troubleshooting.

Amusingly, to me at least, trying to remember whether or not the equal sign was needed and whether or not to put spaces around it was why I didn't include the full syntax in my questioning post. While mafia doesn't care as much about it, DOS environmental variables do care greatly about how and where the spaces go, and that's where my brain was at yesterday. *coughs*
