Bug 'Requests Complete' mid-Adventure Sequence

I've been running into difficulty (screenshots below using v17.12 r18352, though this has been going on for several months now) in that I will start a sequence of adventures, only to have Mafia stall (for lack of a better term) just after the start of a battle, such as:

There seems to be no pattern to when this occurs; sometimes it will be on the second adventure, sometimes on the twentieth. Clicking the 'Begin' button again causes Mafia to move on, finishing off the open battle as Adventure 1 in the new sequence and continuing thence:

This problem does not affect the overall working of Mafia, though it does defeat my primary use for Mafia (reducing the tedium of long chains of adventures in a single location), and, most notably, it does not generate a debug log.
