Default arguments to scripts

So, I went googling for if there's any way to provide a default argument to the main() function of a script in ASH. (By which I mean, a script that takes a CLI argument if one is provided on invocation, but if none is provided, the script uses a hardcoded default value without prompting the user.) I found some old threads discussing the possibility of implementing such a feature, but no definitive resolution as to whether it was adopted or abandoned. Did it ever get implemented? And if so, how does one set a default argument in a script?

EDIT: WHOOPS. I put this in Community Support instead of Scripting Discussion. Sorry about that. If a mod would move it, I would be much obliged. I really shouldn't post at 3am.

Ah, well. It's not a huge deal, just something I would have taken advantage of in one case if it existed. Just wanted to check before giving up. Thanks for the info, hee^3.
