Bug - Waiting for Info pref "questF05Clancy" remains "unstarted" despite having started

I've started Clancy's quest and have done the Typical Tavern portion, and the Knob Shaft portion. But the preference states 'unstarted'.

It has been requested that I share what my quest log states:

The previous quest log for this seems to have been (judging by what's in questlog.txt) "Clancy would like you to find the grave of The Luter, so that he can retrieve the lute the Luter looted long ago. Your keen adventuring instincts tell you that the grave is probably near a graveyard." Presumably several of these have been updated with location links, and if I were to take a guess, it happened when the quest tracker was revamped.

Yeah, it looks like it might be location links. I'm about to start another Boris run in a few days, I can scrape the info. If that'd be helpful?

Seems to be only set by quest logs for that quest, so would be handy.

If you also scraped the text from the actions that move them forward, we could also update the quests from that.

I wouldn't be surprised to find they'd added quest logs for actually finding the new Clancy abilities in addition

Clancy doesn't really do much new abilities. He starts with his sackbutt (hp/mp), then you can buy his crumhorn from the antique shop (stats), then his quest cycle gives you the lute (items). The lute is a part of the quest, the quest mostly gives Clancy extra levels.

It's a series of choice adventures, followed by superlikelies. Too bad Mafia can't detect when you run into the choice adventure. Instead of relying on the questlog, I mean.

I hope this helps.. the start of Clancy's quest:

Clancy gestures excitedly toward your map, grunting softly in his excitement. "Excellent, mighty, handsome Boris! Sorry, I mean, Lxndr!" he begins.

"But I'm still excellent, mighty, and handsome, right?" you ask.

"In sooth, two out of three is not bad," Clancy says. "But dear, good, Lxndr, I see that on thy map now thou hast an alehouse! May we go there forthwith?"

"A wha?"

"An alehouse! A drinkery? A beershed? Great smorflauts, has the language changed so much?"

"Oh, you mean the Typical Tavern. Sure, we can go there. What's a smorflaut?"

"It is akin to a flachshrike, but with fewer numbles," Clancy says. "Verily it hath been an age since I was in a proper alehouse! There are always good new songs to be learned at a winesprit."

to accept it, you click a button that says "Let Us Forthrightly Go Forthwith"

and after you accept it:

"Be there any buxom wenches at this boozebrary?" Clancy asks.
"Now you're just making words up," you say, and Clancy has the decency to blush.

The way quest tracking happens is that started is when something first appears in the quest log. Then each time it changes, it goes to step1, step2, etc, until we finish, when it is set to finished.

In order to do it without checking quest log, we need to know what happens (drop or kill or loss or source text), at which url (or choice), etc - usually there are several to pick from, so we go with easiest.

I don't mind doing a run sometime to gather this, but no idea when it'll happen.

after this particular boris run, I'll be doing another. I'd be happy to gather any information, if i'm given instructions as to what to grab.
sounds like you already have the choice adventures that start things off, per Veracity's post.

The quest log before this happens does not mention Clancy at all.
The quest log after I complete that also does not mention Clancy at all.

Hmm, based on this, I suspect we should have the following :

step1 - Encountering Jackin' the Jukebox in A Barroom Brawl -> (no quest entry, or maybe one in Finished tab)
step2 - Hitting button on choice 572 -> ???
step3 - Encountering A Miner Variation in Knob shaft -> (no quest entry, or maybe one in Finished tab)
step4 - Hitting button on choice 573 -> Clancy wants you to find The Luter's grave and rob it
step5 - obtaining Clancy's Lute in combat -> (no quest entry, or maybe one in Finished tab)
step6 - Hitting button on choice 576 -> ???
step7 - Encountering Mercury Rising in Icy Peak -> (no quest entry, or maybe one in Finished tab)
step8 - Hitting button on choice 577 -> ???
finished - Encountering Don't You Know Who I Am? in Middle Chamber -> You have taken Clancy on a whirlwind tour of the Kingdom, and he is now equipped with enough songs that his musical style will never be cramped again. (or new message)

Might be able to use items for the steps, if it really doesn't show up in Finished or Other. If you have the instrument, you must be at least at step X.
