Full disclosure: My campground.ash relay script added the drop-down menu to remodel my workshop, but I'm sure it had nothing to do with adding a [use] link.

Damn. The DNA Lab - like the Florist Friar - is one of those "super complicated and fiddly and more trouble than I want to put into it" things. I bought one, since I buy every IOTM, but I have, literally, never installed or used it. It goes into the Workshed, right? And competes with my ice machine, which provides immediate benefits that aren't in the slightest bit fiddly for shaving off scores of turns from my run, and allows me to completely skip the Orc Chasm, which is, hands down, my least favorite mandatory zone? (The Copperhead quest beats it for "I hate this", but since the pirates exist, I can completely ignore it.)

So, short answer, don't provide a "use link" for this item? Or what?

I should probably let somebody who cares respond to this. :)

I'm sorry that you haven't enjoyed your DNA Lab and I recommend that you resell it in the mall for a huge profit since it's worth more than $26 million now.

I personally have enjoyed huge benefits from my DNA Lab that far outweigh what I can get from the Snow Machine so I don't regret having one. It requires paying some attention to what potions I want and what monsters I fight, but once I got used to patterns it was real easy to keep track of. I'd want two potions of +25% Initiative (one for the Defiled Cranny and one for the Lair), so I'll need to sample a bug. One humanoid and one constellation for the Nuns (Potions of +25% meat and +50% meat, stackable.) There are a few things like that such as getting bonus elemental damage for the tavern and a +50% food drop potion for the wet stew. Those are shockingly big numbers when I am in hardcore.

Of course there is also the intrinsic to "worry" about though that is easy. Either I grab a construct in Spookyraven for +5 Familiar weight, +50 DA and +5 DR; or else I'll get +10 Familiar weight from a Fish. (Low level fish were easy to encounter in Heavy Rains or else I could fax in Black Crayon Fish.) Before the ML revamp +4 Stats per Fight from a Strange monster were useful, but not worth doing anymore. Once I set the Intrinsic I don't bother changing it for the rest of the ascensions which is why I like something as multi-purpose as Familiar weight.

Fiddly? Slightly. Though much less fiddly than many other things in the game since I can only fiddle with it for 3 potions a day. Mostly it is a matter of planning.

Yeah, I also like trying to get a few dudes in. In a three day run I can usually manage just one or two amongst all the other great choices. Especially now that the new lair encourages me to make elemental damage/spell damage potions and +meat potions.
