That is labeled as a familiar message and is reported as "After Battle" in the CLI, but obviously that is no actual familiar!
Actually, the Thinknerd Grimoire is being used in Standard. By me. Today.
I'm presuming that is legal since it wasn't removed from the Mr. Store until a few days into January.
That's not how that works, since dates are added manually. I expect it's just bookshelf "skills" being weird on KoL's end.
