kolmafia.exe won't start ( no java? error ), but jar files work correctly

I downloaded kolmafia.exe and it won't start ( no java? error ).
When I downloaded the latest jar file it works correctly.
I put the bin directory of java in the path variable.

What else needs to be done?

The .jar file is the same thing as the .exe file so there is really no need to worry as long as you can get one working. The .jar is generally better since those are quite often more recent than the .exe files.

Did you actually install the runtime for kolmafia.exe? It doesn't work without its runtimes...
