Not quite sidetracked, but more tangent. In order to have different settings for different computers, all the computers need to look at the same settings folder if KoLmafia were to be portable, such as using Dropbox.

That why I originally was thinking KoLmafia was not designed to be portable. It would mean some changes to mafia starting up so it could optionally read only 1 set of GLOBAL_prefs.txt no matter which OS was used to open it. It could then check for a _prefs.txt specific to that machine to use those specific settings that would override settings in GLOBAL_prefs.txt. That way, a slow computer could have its limitation set to, say 500000, another to 1000000, and another without limit. That would allow the different computers to use specific settings for specific machines while allowing the personal settings to stay consistent through the portable medium, whether a flash drive or cloud storage.

Granted, this is all an intellectual discussion, but certainly one intended to jostle ideas.
