Getting game year not just day?

I see the function gameday_to_string(), but there doesn't appear to be a way to get game year?

haha, yeah: http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Calendar and http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Festival_of_Jarlsberg for example.

It came up because I wanted to store some stuff via map_to_file keyed to actual game day/year it occurred, which doesn't map well round the world to real system time.

Is it a thing in-game? I.e. is there anywhere within KoL itself that tells you the year, as opposed to it being a Wiki-invented concept?

On the chat pane before you open chat, it says "Today's KoL date is Bill 3". Where within KoL does it tell you the year?

Yeah you're probably right, not sure it is exposed inside the game anywhere
