Turn Off Auto Chef/Bartender-In-A-Box Creation

Is there anyway to turn this off? I never noticed it occuring before (I just updated to 10.9), and I'd like to not have it happen unless I specifically want it to happen.

I've run across the same problem. . . since installing mafia, it's drained my paltry newbie meatbank 3 or 4 times (with tiny houses, trying to make a cook-in-a-box, and cooking a recipe that I didn't have all the ingredients for)

Is there any way to prevent mafia from buying ANYTHING from the store (or at least from buying things in boxes so I can resume cooking / cocktailing)?

In Preferences, in the General section, uncheck "Buy items from NPC stores..." and "Buy items from the mall...". You should look through the other settings too.

I don't know how I missed that preference after looking 20 times, but I also can't find stuff when it's right in front of my face. Thanks!
