Slow forum?

Catch-22

Anyone else noticing the KoLmafia forums running a bit slow today? Specifically things like laggy requests on new/edit posts and things like that?

It's quite possible it's just on my end, but I'm not noticing any other websites misbehaving.

So yeah, I'm getting some slowness again. It seems to be around the same time each day. Looks like the 304 responses for the vBulletin javascripts are timing out every now and then, and the forum pages don't load until the javascripts are loaded.

This is a 504 (the server did not return a response for this request).

That's 3 minutes to load a page, not seconds.

Fewyn, any thoughts?

I'm not having any issues on this end and not seeing anything on my hosts either.

Hmm.. I'm getting the occasional packet dropped by router1-atl.linode.com, but other than that I can't account for the slowness. It's not happening at the moment, so I'll test later on (assuming it will slow down again) and see if there's a higher percentage of dropped packets on the route.

Getting more weirdness like "security token missing" errors (even though I logged the request and could see the security token there).

Yesterday, I edited my post in the unofficial x86 build thread and the whole post got truncated to the like the first few lines (thanks to google cache I recovered it).

Occasionally over the past few days I've been getting "The file(s) uploaded were too large to process." when posting a new post or editing an existing post.

I ran a traceroute when the weird behaviour was happening and got this for the last few hops:

8 238 ms 254 ms 245 ms atl-core-a-g3-1.gnax.net [63.247.69.177]
9 615 ms 245 ms 382 ms router1-atl.linode.com [64.22.106.10]
10 758 ms * 957 ms fewyn.net [74.207.233.202]

As you can see, one of the packets was completely dropped in the final hop and the other two were quite delayed. The hops prior to the linode hop are all fine.

Here's how it looks when everything is normal:

8 238 ms 238 ms 238 ms atl-core-a-g3-1.gnax.net [63.247.69.177]
9 237 ms 237 ms 237 ms router1-atl.linode.com [64.22.106.10]
10 235 ms 234 ms 233 ms fewyn.net [74.207.233.202]
